Swish!

Hello Friends and Family!

Life has been a traveling adventure of late! Last Saturday we flew out of Boston to spend some time with Toby’s brother John, his wife Sarah, and their three kids in Appleton, WI. We had a great time, and I feel so blessed to have had this time getting to know John and Sara better. Sara and I had lots of time to talk and hang out, go out for coffee, work on puzzles, and play boggle! I actually won, which isn’t usually the case when we also play with my other sister-in-law, Jane! Sara has accused me of pretending all of this time. I learned a lot about parenting by watching Sara–she has an unbelievable amount of patience and kindness that she gives her kids. I found myself wanting to be more like her.

Unfortunately John was bed ridden with a major bug for a good part of the time, but the time we did have with him was special and fun. One of our nights there, Toby’s other brother, Andy, drove to visit from Chicago and had dinner with us. We all had a blast hanging out and being silly, particularly John, as shown in the picture. It’s possible that most of us had had too much wine. . .

I left Wisconsin feeling really blessed to be a part of the Deitrich family, and I look forward to more visits like this one. Thanks John and Sara, Connor, Sam, and Jack!

Boring Blog February 21, 2006

Dear Friends and Family,

Sorry I haven’t been updating lately! It just furthers the evidence that maybe my life isn’t worth blogging about after all! Hehe! Anyway, I have some new pictures and events to share, but alas, I am in Wisconsin visiting family and will have to wait until I return Wednesday.

I will share that it has been so cold in the Midwest that when we arrived in Milwaukee on Saturday morning to catch our connecting flight to Appleton, WI, no one had yet taken off that day! The fuel trucks froze and couldn’t fill the planes with gas. Toby and I were running down the hall to catch our plane because we were made late by our previous flight. We looked like idiots crashing into many people who had been waiting since 7 am. Anyway, we finally left a couple hours later. It turned out to be a blessing because we got to relax with some really yummy coffee and bagels. The temp in Milwaukee was -10, without windchill, and boy was it windy!!!!

The previous night we were in Boston, spending the night with Great Uncle Evan. Toby and I had taken Noah to Hartford, CT Friday night to fly out to Raleigh, and then we drove to Boston in under two hours. We had a few hours to kill as Evan wouldn’t be home until around 9pm. We walked into Cambridge and ate dinner at a fabulous Indian restaurant and then got some ice cream at a nearby shop. I will never forget walking back, with the howling winds and freezing air, with a giant ice cream cone. I’m not sure I remember ever being so cold! We had to keep ducking into store doorways to get a break from the wind.

Ok–enough for now. Love you all!

A few weeks ago we went to visit Grandmah and Grandpah Abetti in NY. The food was delicious and the company was even better. I was even able to obtain my favorite food ever–fish salad made with smoked whitefish from Gershon’s deli in Schenectady. Grandpah gave us a tour of the RPI campus and his office on Saturday, and then we went to see a movie later in the afternoon. On Saturday evening Grandpah took out his father’s Italian WWI medals to show Noah, some of which have his face engraved on them!

Grandmah has made the pull-out bed a lot more comfortable, although the first night was terrible because I had had too much wine! The room still smells like moth balls, but somehow I find that comforting because it brings back so many childhood memories of their house. My favorite memory is playing in their basement with Caleb. They have this fabulous castle with knights and catapaults, and I remember many great battles. . .

Hi friends and family. Josh and Jill came to visit us last week with their new little baby girl, Elizah Polly. This is a picture of us taken at my dad’s house. She’s too cute and chubby!

Hello out there! I have decided to try and keep a blog, now that my family members are so spread out. I’m not much of a writer, but I look forward to sharing bits and pieces of my life with you.
